He’s Back

It has been a few months since my last blog post and I want to get back to posting more regularly. Bill Rowland, Paul Mosenson and my business partner Paul Fleming have been doing a great job over the past few months and I have been neglecting the whole blog thing. I am recommitting myself – I cannot continue to talk about engagement if I don’t attempt to engage myself now can I?
I also want to thank the good folks at FlackShack for helping in this process. I met with Suzan and Melinda a month or so ago (probably 3 by now) and they gave me some feedback on our blog – you see they are “REAL” bloggers. One thing that kept with me all this time they said that while our blog gives good information it lacks my personality – who knew I had one – though I can be very entertaining if you want me to speak to any of your groups. Anyway the more I thought about what they said the more I thought I should get back to being a contributor again so here I am and committing to making a better effort at this engagement thing. It will require you to post back to me though so you have to take a step as well.
I have been thinking a bit about what I should say in my first attempt back and I stumbled across something I wonder what to think of. I find I belong to a number of unintentional groups or communities. What I mean by this is folks who have something in common with you and when they find that you are a member they feel free to talk to you about it. Example of what I mean – A number of years ago I had part of my thyroid cut out (they don’t do this anymore for an overactive thyroid thank goodness) so I have a scar on my neck that most of you have not noticed but anyone who has had the operation notices right away. It makes me a part of the thyroid operation community and recently led to a great conversation with a waitress who knew immediately what it was. It allowed us to share and be part of the same community.
I have this theory that if you talk enough to a person and really ask genuinely about them you will find something you have in common, a bond, a community you both belong to. I know the great blogger Steve Smolinsky who blogs all the time about networking would agree with this and I highly recommend his blog
Your thoughts or am I crazy about this whole thing?
Now last thought – if you have not had anyone send this video to you it is a must see.
Cheesy moouse yes moouse not mouse because I know you can’t do what this mouse is doing. (Update: Sorry, but the video is no longer available – You need to act fast on the internets…)
Now your turn – feedback??

Welcome back Rick, glad to see you will be involved more with your blog again.
I enjoyed the video a lot, funny and the special effects look real. I bet that would really help sell the cheese if they air this on tv.
Also I will have a look at Steve’s blog soon as I get a chance.
