Search Engines are essential but not the be all…

Most of you probably already know that we focus mainly on Search Engine Marketing. Some call it Website Marketing, others SEO, SEM…there are a bunch of names. We focus on these because of the immense power that they have (consistently) in attracting users to a website. We prefer organic or natural search due to the fact that it is more cost-effective for out clients. As powerful as we feel search engines are, they are not the only avenues you can use to increase your website’s online visibility. The following are a couple of ideas:
- Forum Marketing
- Blog Comment Marketing
- Video Marketing
- Podcasting
- Social Network Marketing
- Email Marketing
Let’s have a quick look at a couple of these. Video Marketing continues to gather momentum particularly with the immense popularity of YouTube. Often putting out some quick videos about your product offerings can be a great way to get exposure. Keep in mind the need to be transparent…people will see what you’re trying to do if you’re forcing the message down their throats and they won’t like it. It doesn’t need to be flashy or expensive, just creative.
Podcasting is also a way to spread your message. Involving yourself in a podcast or just advertising your message on it can be immensely powerful. If you’re looking to push a book, do an interview on Everse Radio. If you have musical equipment, target something like The Roadie Show. There are some great niche markets out there so don’t be afraid to tap into them.
Finally, email marketing is an essential tool. Rick has spoken about establishing and maintaining relationships in previous blog posts so a quick refresher may be in order.
This new media marketplace is exciting and confusing. The biggest successes we’ve seen are those who are willing to take the plunge.
